ADOPTABLE PUP OF THE WEEK - RILEY

Meet Riley! She is an adoptable puppy through The Riley Rescue (I think the name is just a coincidence) in Bellmawr, NJ.  She is a female Redbone Coonhound & Lhasa Apso Mix.

If you are interested in learning more about Riley, please visit her petfinder page, here.

DOG ADOPTION/ MY PUP

As I have stated before, I am absolutely obsessed with dogs. Not only am I obsessed with dogs, but I am also obsessed with the idea of rescuing dogs. My biggest pet peeve in the world is when people buy dogs from pet stores and breeders instead of rescuing them from shelters. Hundreds of thousands of perfect pups are put down every year just because they can't find a good home while people are paying breeders to breed more dogs. My personal favorite website to search for adoptable animals, which is where I found my pup, is petfinder.com. Here, you can search for different types of adoptable animals by location, age, breed, size, ect. Shelters around the country add their adoptable dogs to this website to make a really user-friendly and easy way to find your perfect new pet!

My baby, Millie, was rescued as a puppy from a shelter in Scranton, PA. Her mom came into the shelter pregnant and had her litter there. She is a blue nose pit bull and super small for her breed, so I think she was the runt of the litter. We rescued her when she was around 9 weeks old. This is extremely common, so if you are looking for a puppy, you can definitely rescue one! Also, pit bulls are an extremely understood breed, so they are extremely common shelter dogs. Please remember that no dog is born mean and they behave how they are trained to be. But if you are not open to adopting this breed, there are so many breeds available from poodles to golden retrievers. So next time you are thinking of getting a pet, be sure to adopt!

Being an advocate for pet adoption, I thought it would be a cool idea to do a "pup of the week" post on my blog where I would show a dog in my area that needs a home! So look out for my "pup of the week" posts! I have helped multiple people

SELFIE SHAMING

I just had to post about something I've been thinking a lot about recently: selfies! Lately, I have been hearing a ton of girls poking fun at others for posting a lot of pictures of themselves. It makes me so sad! When a girl posts a selfie, it means they like the photo and feel confident in the way they look. I love when I see that and I think all girls should support each other instead of putting each other down.

My friends will have great photos of themselves, but be afraid to post them because there's this stigma against it. I used to feel this way, as well, until I came to this realization. If you have a photo you like of yourself - post it! If girls are going to be nasty about it, it usually means they are just jealous or negative people. We should all love ourselves and not be afraid to show it!

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Anyone who knows me is aware that I'm mainly obsessed with three things: beauty, fashion, and dogs. I'm a lover of all things makeup and my favorite thing to buy is shoes. I'm a huge advocate for rescuing pets from shelters and the best gift I've ever gotten is my beautiful pup Millie (above) my boyfriend adopted from a shelter.

Beyond that, I just graduated from Drexel University in Philly with my bachelors and masters in architectural engineering. I currently work in the city at one of the top engineering/architecture firms in the country as a mechanical engineer for large scale buildings. I'm proud of my accomplishments and even more proud to show how women can love math AND makeup.

I decided to make a blog to chat about the things I love and meet other people that share my same interests!
