HOW TO MAKE YOUR CUBICLE CUTE - FOR LESS!

If you work 40 hours a week, you're spending about a quarter of your time in the office. If you're like me and work in a cubicle, you know how depressing those things can look and feel. When I started work a few weeks ago, I knew I had to dress it up a bit. If I'm spending so much time there, then I want to make it a place I enjoy that feels welcoming and homey. For the past few weeks, I have been picking things up here and there to jazz things up and I wanted to share some of what I have gotten here. Not to mention I took a little over a month off after school before starting work, so I don't have much moolah to work with for now. I found everything at such great prices!

Dabney Lee Gold Foiled Folders (T.J.Maxx, ~$5, Lookalike)
C.R. Gibson Note to Self Marble Notebook (T.J.Maxx, ~$4, Lookalike)

Glass Candy Jar (HomeGoods, ~$10, Lookalike)
C.R. Gibson Memo Boxes with Notepads Inside (T.J.Maxx, ~$4 each, Lookalike)

Lady Jayne Supplies Organizer (HomeGoods, ~$5, Lookalike)
Roobee by Mara-Mi Tape Dispenser (T.J.Maxx, ~$7, Lookalike)
Roobee by Mara-Mi Pencil Holder (HomeGoods, ~$7, Lookalike
I was lucky to find this matching pencil holder at HomeGoods a few days after I found the tape dispenser!

Printed Photos of Family & Friends (& Dog) (Kanvess, 30 prints for $10.95 including shipping)

Mini Mason Jars (Dollar Store, $1 each)
Gold & Silver Thumbtacks (Dollar Store, $1 for 300 tacks)
Eccolo 18 Month Planner (T.J.Maxx, ~$10, Lookalike)
C.R. Gibson Notepad Set (T.J.Maxx, ~$4)

Thirsty? Water Bottle (JustFab, free with Reward Points)
White and Pink Coffee Cup (Dollar Store, $1)
Gold & Silver Tassles (T.J.Maxx, ~$6, Lookalike)

I know HomeGoods and T.J.Maxx can be tough because you can't find exact items, but look around at your local stores because they are bound to have cute stuff! I tried to link lookalike items to what I found and the original brands's websites, which are a little bit pricier than at T.J.Maxx or HomeGoods and unfortunately sometimes only sold in wholesale.

I'm also going to pick up a few plants for my desk, as it's been proven that being in the presence of plants can decrease stress and increase productivity! Click here to check out my current office supplies wish list!

Happy cubicle decorating!

NEW APARTMENT DESIGN IDEAS

So I'm moving into my first big girl, non-campus located apartment at the end of the month and I have been having so much fun planning how I will decorate! I'm living with my boyfriend, but let's get real, he doesn't exactly have much say in the decor (oops)! Before buying anything, I created an inspiration board to gather my thoughts and ideas. I know if I didn't I would end up buying everything, and to be honest when it comes to design, I become a little bit obsessed!

(click photo to see larger view)

To sum up what I'm going for, my palette consists of white, gold, and multiples shades of grey. The style is nature infused chic with a hint of traditional. Clearly, I have had a hard time trying to explain it until I stumbled upon the style quiz on Z Gallerie's website and found out my style type is Naturally Luxe. Doesn't that sounds exactly like what I'm going for? By the way, if you don't know what Z Gallerie is, it's a home furniture and decor website with the most AMAZING stuff ever. The only problem is it's way out of my budget (and probably a lot of people's budgets) so I have been finding cheaper versions of their pieces I have been crushing on on more affordable websites. My current favorite stores to find affordable AND amazing furniture and decor are Joss & Main and Wayfair.

Using the measurements from the building's website online, I created a rough 3D model of the apartment in Google SketchUp. Did I mention I go a little crazy when it comes to design? I know how to use SketchUp from work, so I decided to model it with an estimation of furniture layout and size to make sure I knew what kind of space I would be buying for.

Those windows, though! I absolutely cannot wait to move in. Now that I have developed what I know I'm looking for, I'm going to start buying. I'll continue to make updates throughout this apartment design journey!

BEAUTY FAVORITE OF THE MOMENT - BUXOM FULL-ON LIP POLISH

I cannot describe how in love with this lip polish I have been recently! The absolute best thing about this gloss for me, which is unfortunately is the opposite for some people, is the lip tingling sensation it gives. I know some people hate that feeling, but I personally LOVE it and am sure a lot of other people do too. I heard Jaclyn Hill mention it in one of her videos or snapchat so I gave it a try and now I'm obsessed!

I have two shades but need to get more ASAP: Sandy and Olivia. Sandy is a pinky/peachy nude and my go-to everyday lip gloss. Proof: I've had it for a few weeks and the bottle only has 1/3 left! Olivia is a hot pink which is great for when I'm looking for color. The shades I'm currently eyeing are Dolly Eva, Sophia, and a few others. My only set back is I don't like glitter in my gloss, so I go for the shades that are high shine or have shimmer with unnoticeable or small glitter specs.

WORK STYLE - BEING A FASHIONISTA IN AN INDUSTRY THAT COULD CARE LESS ABOUT FASHION

Working in a business casual office in an industry that (for the majority) could care less about fashion can be tough. It can be intimidating to wear trendy outfits and discouraging to be surrounded by people that don't. It can almost feel as if you don't belong in your industry. Notice, I'm talking about the majority here (shoutout to the 1% of people who look amaze at my work!!). I know a lot of people out there feel the same way as I do. But, what we have to remember is we do belong! Who says an engineer or a financial analyst can't be fashionable?! Keep on keeping on girls, because I'm sure it doesn't go unnoticed. In fact, if I ever see someone killing it at work or around the city during my lunch break, it inspires me. So put on your culotte dress pants and deep colored lip sticks and let's agree to inspire ourselves and others.

Of course we all have our lazy days every once in awhile, but try not to lose your love of fashion or beauty in the midst of your non-fashion/beauty career. It's important to feel good and personally, if I look like crap then I feel like crap too!

ADOPTABLE PUP OF THE WEEK - FIONA

Meet Fiona! She is a gorgeous grey pit bull mix and almost 2 years old. Okay, I'll admit it, I may have a soft spot for her because she looks just like my dog. But come on, how adorable is she?!

She appears to be pretty small for a pit bull - what I like to call a pocket pitty. If you are interested in learning more about Fiona, she is located at Saved Me Adoption Center in Northern Liberties, Philly. This shelter is near and dear to my heart, as I volunteered there multiple times in college and organized a large donation from my sorority and other fraternities and groups on campus. To learn more about Saved me: visit their site here. A direct link to Fiona on petfinder is here.
